James
R. Hagan, Esq. is a partner in The Hagan Law Firm, Inc.
Mr. Hagan has been engaged in the private practice of
law in Palo Alto and the Silicon Valley since 1972. Before
that, Mr. Hagan worked for five years as Associate General
Counsel for Consolidated Freightways, a large national
corporation, specializing in the management of nationwide
litigation and in labor union matters, and then spent
three years in venture capital and as President of a start-up
electronics company. Mr. Hagan's principal areas of practice
are now corporate formations and corporate representation,
venture capital transactions, securities offerings, mergers
and acquisitions, complex contract negotiations, and real
estate transactions. Mr. Hagan participates in litigation
in those practice areas.
Mr.
Hagan represents a number of corporations and a real estate
investment trust as general counsel, hiring specialists
for the client in various areas of the law when and as
required. Mr. Hagan's clients have included founders of
Intel and Computerland, an inventor of the Winchester
disk drive, venture capital companies, and high-technology
research companies. Mr. Hagan's special skill is his capacity
for sound judgment and clear vision in making and implementing
long-term plans and strategic decisions. Mr. Hagan is
and has been a director and Secretary of publicly-held
and private corporations. He is a member of the State
Bar Association and is admitted to practice before the
state and federal courts in California. Mr. Hagan currently
practices law in both Los Angeles and Northern California.
He is also engaged in the development of real estate in
Los Angeles.
Mr.
Hagan was born in 1935 and reared in Sherman, Texas, near
Dallas. He attended college at the University of Oklahoma.
Mr. Hagan was a member of the University's National Championship
and Orange Bowl football teams in 1956 under coach Bud
Wilkinson. While at OU, Mr. Hagan pursued studies in government
and ethics, and was elected to the Dean's and President's
Honors Lists and to Phi Beta Kappa. He graduated in 1957
with the degree of Bachelor of Arts with Distinction.
Mr. Hagan volunteered for service in the United States
Marine Corps and, from 1957 to 1962, served as a Marine
officer and as a jet fighter pilot of supersonic aircraft.
While in the Marine Corps, Mr. Hagan married and fathered
three children. Mr. Hagan left the Marine Corps in 1962
to attend law school at Stanford University. He graduated
from Stanford Law School in 1964.
In
addition to his work in the law, Mr. Hagan holds the degree
of Ph.D. in psychology and is a licensed psychologist
in the State of California. In his work as a psychologist,
Mr. Hagan specializes in the exploration of the unconscious
by means of the interpretation of dreams. He is the author
of Diamonds of the Night: The Search for
Spirit in Our Dreams (published 1996). He is presently
at work on a second book entitled Dream Warrior:
Life and Death in Dreams. Mr. Hagan is engaged
